Ray Sandoval was born to parents of Japanese and Mexican American descent. Not only is Ray’s bloodline and cultural background diverse but his musical experiences and studies are as well. He grew up in Arizona but left to earn his Masters in 20th Century Music at
at The California Institute of the Arts. Ray has lived in and studied the music of Japan, Spain, Israel, and Indonesia. He currently lives in London and is an award winning composer.
Ray’s new CD, Proxima Parada, with no surprise can only be described as World Music. Influences of flamenco, jazz, the folk music of Japan and the complex rhythms of Indonesia make up a few of the influences heard in his compositions. We highly recommend this recording for a unique listening experience.
